Above: This dairy page from the night of September 24th show extensive damage caused by burning that resulted for the final disaster that overtook Clifford. It is odd that some pages of the diary show such damage while others from the same night so virtually none at all. It was also noted early on by the Brotherhood that seemingly closely related pages of the diary were found on all but the very lowest levels. Some where found in the main basement levels while others typed by Clifford the same evening where found in remote sections of Levels 2 & 3. Evidence seems to indicate that Level 2 was only briefly by searchers after Clifford's disappearance and no one entered Level 3 at all - the site of Clifford's final ruin - until members of the Brotherhood did so in 2002-2003. If any diary pages made their way to Levels 5 and 6 they probably did not survive due to the adverse conditions there. The Brotherhood made only brief visits to these lowest levels and even the most stalwart were more often than not overcome by an all pervading sense of foreboding and watchfulness that lingered there. |
